Brief Response
This late 90s London dystopian novel warns readers of a
potential future brought on by wars, mutually assured destruction, and the
wrong people taking advantage of a situation. The narrative gives another look
into the horrors of the Nazi Concentrations Camps, albeit tangentially and briefly,
and uses those circumstances to create an antihero. Grey morals and a tarnished
sense of justice, the protagonist lets readers know that he could be any of us
given the right, or wrong, circumstances.
